Tonight was my first night here and I was a little scared because this isn't my usual hang out!
Food:
Monday's special is a pound of shrimp (fried or steamed) for $9 which is an awesome price and these are JUMBO shrimp! I ordered the steamed and they were pretty good although I wish they were steamed with the old bay seasoning on them they were very good and came with butter and cocktail sauce. My friend ordered the fried and hers were very crispy and crunchy which I liked and they weren't completely batter which was awesome.
Drinks:
We ordered the orange crushes which where two for $7 when we went amazing price and the drinks were strong and not all ice which is a plus!
Service:
A waitress came over to us soon after we sat and asked what we'd like. She was very friendly and promptly took our order. She was all over the restaurant but made sure to check on us! I didn't get her name! Also, the food and drinks came out extremely fast and since I was starving that was awesome!
I will definitely be back to explore other daily specials! -

Awesome!
We were told to go there by a friend (former military) who said it was one of her favorite spots. We tried it out -- with five adults and three kids.
The food was awesome! We had the shrimp, while one of the people in our party had the crab cake sandwich and another had tuna.
The food was cooked to perfection (and not over cooked like many places do) -- and we washed them down with dollar drafts.
On top of having excellent food, our waitress (Hope) was awesome! She was very friendly and got our food and drinks out to us quickly and with a smile.
We ate at the fishing pier the night before, and the Thirsty Camel was by far the better of the two places!
Highly recommend -- and we will definitely be coming back in the future! -

A quaint local dive on the water; was definitely a good visit for our first night in Norfolk. The selection of alcoholic beverages made us feel like we had immediately immersed ourselves in the scene. The food was outstanding as well; simply made, but the type of simple food that was made with love. When we went there, there were only two servers on the floor which made our service a little slow, but nonetheless, it's a good place if you want to be immersed in the culture of the city.

Local dive, but what is not to love!? If you want fancy this is not the place. However if you want to be seated around locals and enjoy the best shrimp in OV, go here now! We always order fried shrimp and steamed shrimp. The shrimp are ahhmazing and are big! Thirsty Camel is in walking distance to my home so I will always be back.
